Job Market
Hi. It's me, the average Joe looking at your job posting. I have a few favors to ask.First off, post the pay you're going to offer. That way, people can determine before they've made an investment into the application process as to whether or not it's worth pursuing. None of this "To be determined," or "Depends on experience," bull crap. You know what you want to pay, and what you're willing to pay, so give us a starting number. "Base pay is $xx.xx per hour, more with right credentials." That gives us an idea of what to expect without eliminating the people that may be REALLY qualified, as opposed to just qualified. If you're embarrassed to post it, it probably means you aren't offering enough, and you know it.
Second, yes, Idaho is a right to work state. That doesn't mean that you have to pay us slave wages. Generally, if you're willing to pony up a few more dollars, you'll get someone substantially better. I have seriously contemplated making a list of employers with ridiculous demands, so that I know not to accept any position with their company. A company that expects, for example, a bachelor's degree and 2 years experience, offering $10/hour. This is flat-out insulting. Why did I bother wasting tens of thousands of dollars and many of my young years going to school, if the wage I end up making is the same as a high school drop-out?
Next, we put a lot of effort into getting a position. I understand that sometimes you get hundreds of applicants, and that you go through 3 rounds of screening, or what have you. However, many of us also aren't waiting on one offer. We may have three or four in the works at any given time. As such, tell us if we didn't make it to the next round, or if we weren't selected. You don't even have to send us an e-mail! It's as simple as saying, "If you're selected, we'll call you Friday. If not, we wish you better luck next time." We try to extend as much courtesy and respect as we can, and we'd appreciate some reciprocation. After all, even if we aren't your employee, we may still be your customer.
Lastly, if you're hiring, you should be footing the expense of pulling records and testing. There's no reason a prospective employee should be forced to pick up every form, document, and lab test known to man, just to suit your legal department. If you are going to hire someone, you need to do this stuff, not someone who doesn't even have the job yet.
IBF!
- This was the best time spended on my holaidy. Listening to Angry Joe talking about PS4 was enjoyable.Yes, I will buy the console if the promises proof true and the bad sides are wiped out in time. The high price is also a danger zone there. I might wait for the console to drop its price before I buy it, because 600€ would be extremely much to ask from a console, no matter what technology it holds inside.
