Homeless Sensation Goes Hollywood!
From the streets of Cleveland to Hollywood in a matter of hours: Ted Williams, the homeless man with the incredible voice who became a YouTube sensation, says he has been offered a role in a film with Jack Nicholson. "They're supposed to be making a movie in which Jack is playing opposite a disc jockey, which he would like me to portray in the movie," Williams said. He is considering a flurry of offers that followed his viral fame, including announcer at Quicken Loans Arena, the home of the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers and voice of a Kraft Macaroni & Cheese commercial to air on ESPN. With email, instant messaging, facebook, texting, video games, home schooling, and everything else, its so easy for a child to lack in everyday social skills. I work with children who can't even maintain minimal conversation because they're uncomfortable standing face-to-face with another human being. Either that or their attention span is so short they can't comprehend past 30 seconds of information because they're used to high-speed everything. It's sad, actually. And I would take it one step further and say EVERY child should participate in an organized sport. I played sports all my life and the things I learned from those experiences are priceless and carry over into ALL aspects of my life. Time-management, leadership skills, working with others towards a common goal, discipline, goal setting, social development, the list goes on and on! I'm not saying we should expect every child to be phenomenal at all sports or ANY sport for that matter. But the experience of being a part of a team is unmatched. Not to mention, when you have developed all those skills, you can't help but to feel good and want to better for yourself, including in the health department. Kudos to all the parents who are choosing a healthier lifestyle for themselves and their families. But let's remember, it takes a village
